Can a car create a school?
In the early 1970s, Leon and Margie Armantrout had a vision to create a Montessori school in Redlands. With a little help from their friends, and the sale of a classic car, they were able to raise the money to open the school in a rented church basement in 1976.
Since then, more than 2,300 students have graduated from Montessori in Redlands (MIR), and the school currently serves more than 335 children from Redlands and surrounding communities. This stability and longevity is a direct result of the continued support of the MIR community--families, friends, staff, alumni, and the Board of Trustees.
Please help us continue the vision of the Armantrouts by helping to support the education of today's students and ensuring a strong future for new generations of students through one of the programs noted below (no car necessary).
