The education of the whole
child is a cooperative effort between parents, teachers and
students. Faculty, staff, members of the Board and parents of
MIR work together and demonstrate their support through involvement.
We encourage you to actively participate in the classrooms,
in schoolwide activities, and in the governance structure of
the school.Volunteer opportunities for parents and staff include
the following.
PTM
(Parents and Teachers of Montessori) Board
Opportunities include:
- Volunteering to be a member of the PTM Executive Committee,
made up of four parent members and a faculty liaison.
- Becoming a PTM Room Representatives--At least one parent
from each class volunteers each year to keep parents informed
about school and class events.
- Assisting with PTM Events--Each parent is asked to volunteer
a minimum of 5 hours in support of a PTM event during a
school year.

MIR Annual Spring Gala &
Auction Parents are needed to help make this
annual event a success. Volunteers are needed to plan, decorate,
sell opportunity tickets and solicit donations. Learn

Board of Trustees Positions/Nominees
Board positions are held by parents, staff and members of
the community who are not otherwise affiliated with MIR. Parents
and staff are encouraged to nominate persons they think would
be effective Board members. Applications are accepted on an
ongoing basis. Learn

Donations and Funding
MIR offers parents several opportunities to financially support
the school by making household purchases, business purchases,
and/or providing donations. Learn

Chaperone Opportunities
Parents are asked to volunteer their time to drive and/or
chaperone for class errands, field trips, and events.Class
LuncheonsParents, students, and staff prepare these special
meals together during holidays and at the end of the school
year.
Parent Work Day(s)
Each year parents are asked to spend a Saturday morning helping
to beautify the school. Parents who attended work mornings in
the past have helped to assemble new playground equipment, build
a storage shed, and perform general cleanup in the indoor and
outdoor environments. |
