Summer Program

Summer students at MIR experience a summer camp environment with a Montessori twist. Summer sessions combine learning with fun while providing the Montessori emphasis on helping children become self-sufficient, creative individuals.

The Elementary program is open to any elementary student ages 6-12 years (students must have completed first grade). Toddler and Primary programs are open to enrolled MIR students only. All summer sessions are two weeks each.

To enroll, complete the enrollment form and bring it to the MIR office.

Elementary Summer Program
Lower and Upper Elementary students select one morning and one afternoon activity to explore personal areas of interest. Selections include the following. Read the brochure for full descriptions.

  • Session 1: Camping and Hiking, Scrapbooking and Homemade Gifts, Outdoor Sports, Cooking, and Swimming.
  • Session 2: Writer's Workshop, Puppet Making and Reader's Theater, Printmaking and Calligraphy, Sign Language, and Swimming.
  • Session 3: Drama, Greek Mythology Theater Workshop, Cooking from the Garden, Calligraphy and Writing, and Swimming.
  • Session 4: Calligraphy and Watercolors, Cuisine Around the World, and Acrobatic Skills.

Sessions are taught by Montessori teachers and assistants. Swimming is taught by the Redlands Swim Team at Redlands High School. All skill levels are taught, from beginner to water polo to junior lifeguard training.

Primary Summer Program
Primary students will incorporate the Montessori philosophy and materials with special projects such as cooking, gardening, sporting activities, and swimming. They will have at least one field trip each session. Sessions are taught by Montessori teachers and assistants.

Toddler Summer Program
Toddlers will supplement their Montessori environment with special summer activities such as gardening, crafts, and water play. One outing per session will enhance their summer fun. Sessions are taught by Montessori teachers and assistants.
