National statistics
and trends indicate an increase in students with learning challenges.
Students with special needs at MIR receive extra help. Currently
MIR serves students with autism, Down syndrome, speech and
language disorders, Asperger's Disorder, Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other learning disabilities.
MIR employs the following personnel to evaluate and serve children
with special needs:
• Speech Pathologist
• School Psychologist
• Resource Specialists
The school provides rich, carefully prepared environments in
which all children are guided to reach their full potential
through purposeful work. Our prepared classroom environments
and fundamental teaching methodology enables us to accommodate
special needs students within the classrooms while maintaining
the richness of the program for the other children. High achievers,
special needs students, and everyone in between peacefully
coexist in the classrooms and succeed in challenging themselves
to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.
